The latest twist is taking my Emu E4K sampler out of storage, too big for the house (76 key board!), but quite good for a mess around. On the sequencer front an EMX-1 is pushing in front of the ESX-1 due to more melodic parts. Analogue + sampler + sequencer seems like enough to make tunes!

What about an E-Mu Command Station?

How's the EMX-1? I'm contemplating re-acquiring one...

The EMX is doing fine in the intended sequencer role, the drum sounds are more useable than I expected, synth sounds are quite static. I've just added an Emagic MT4 as MIDI router so the EMX will be able to play the E4K and euro/MS-20/Odyssey while the E4K can also play everything and record notes into the EMX. (The EMX step buttons are quite limiting for note entry, just over an octave then you're shifting)
