Bitwig = 299 + (169 * 12) = $179 per year over 13 years

Ableton = $750 + (239 * 3) = $113 per year over 13 years
Logic Pro ~$200 own forever

Yes but right now for Bitwig, the extension of upgrade is 50% discounted.
So we are talking about a worst case scenario. A scenario that will never happen ==> if your licence expires, you don't have to renew until :
1 - there is a discount or
2 - there is a new version you like.

So it is NEVER 169/year. It is either 169/year - X% discount, either 169 every .... 15 months?

I was a Logic user for 20+ years. Back in the Emagic days Logic was like 500 bucks for the program, and you had to buy things like the ES2, the EXS24, etc piecemeal as add-ons. They even came in their own box! lmao

After Apple took over and a few years later started the whole "free upgrades indefinitely" thing that was indeed great. Logic is a special circumstance in that it's owned and operated by literally one of the largest corporations to ever exist in the history of capitalism. Logic is a "loss leader" for this corporation, and the "loss" isn't even more than a few grains of sand on their gigantic beach.

Off topic; I don't care for the direction Apple is turning to with Logic 11. The AI stuff is garbage. I don't like software that writes music for you.. that's not a tool for composing, that's a thing made to entertain you like a video game.
"music is the best"

I have 2 friends who I am sure will be pleased with the new Session tools in Logic. They are both singer/songwriters who perform. Being able to create backing tracks for their songs will be useful to them.

Is that stated with logic pro? i think the previous logic to logic x (or what it may be called) was a paid update too.

Still cheap though i have to say that. But the macs are expensive sadly.

True. And when you have the money to buy a Mac, you have the money to buy Bitwig 😁.

Well I remember when Logic was pretty expensive and upgrades were pretty expensive, I have definitely spent more on Logic than BW!
Bitwig, against the constitution.

The hardware dongle that you need to buy in order to use an up-to-date Logic leaves Bitwig in the cheapo category.
