PetVor wrote: Thu Apr 18, 2024 4:58 pm There was a long discussion in the beta group wether POLY should be part of the SETUP. In the end we decided against. It may not be obvious, but this is less straightforward from UIX perspective as it may seem. I will revisit the decision and think about a solution!
Just give it a "lock" function then.. so that the user can prevent it from changing when switching presets.

Just like many Reverb plugins allow the user to lock the wet/dry amount so it doesn't change when switching presets.
we've discussed ways to set a maximum poly count, it's a bit tricky to make it useful AND intuitive
and by "intuitive" I don't mean easy to use for anyone who understands what is happening (you and I) but easy to understand for people who have absolutely no clue yet what it does. There's been some discussion, and I agree with the complaint that poly count should have been a priority for designers just like loudness/tuning/ and expression.

Dawsome feels like the leading VST synth developer operating today. I’ve already got Novum and Abyss and think they’re great, and while I haven’t downloaded Myth yet it already looks and sounds like another winner. 8)

Let me start with the bad... I would love to have midi cc learn, at least on the macro knobs... the preset browser, the big one is just too large, i would wish i could make it smaller font wise or at least it resize appropriately and dynamically based on the overall GUI size... and for sure this main large preset browser should indicate the favourite presets.

The top browser is a bit tricky, I agree. I ended up resorting to the lower browser that is "built into" the synth (if you check the tabs where osc/filter/fx are)

I think you'll find this one far easier to manage

as for CC, I think this probably should be added, there's CC options for the expressions, but not for the macros, and I don't remember why. I'll mention this to Peter as a potential update

And oh my lord there is a superb little feature where you can instantly render your last played midi note (or chords) as a wav sample! This makes it a superb creative tool combined with a flexible sampler VSTi.

The intro price seems justified to me - I'm not going to buy yet though, as I probably won't enjoy making music the next few months (full price exceeds my current budget, but if it allows Elton John to pull his weight supporting it, I'm all for that).

Intriguing synth, I'm looking forward to hopefully play it one day (and Kult, which I bought recently - also, I like Love very much, I got it for free and it made me take notice of Dawesome).

I was very happy with the cpu... until I realized it was on eco mode.

It seems like poly options between 4 and 8 might be very helpful for cpu on Ultra. In Ableton at low latency 4 voice works fine but with 8 voice poly on playing iirc pretty much the same thing overloads the cpu on some patches. But I do sometimes want to play chords with five or six notes (8 notes? almost never)....

Eco mode does sound good though. Seems like it's not that big a deal to play the notes in with eco or high and switch to ultra for mixing (at higher latency).

Yes I just saw that. This is really cool! Vive drag'n'drop!!!

Stuck in Aperture Laboratories for a 2nd time!

Also you can use that to resample a sound back onto the Iris - resampleception

A sample that you can drag to an audio track in your DAW?
Doing nothing is only fun when you have something you are supposed to do.

Yeah click and drag from that after playing notes

I wish that the guitars (and other plucked strings if there are any?) and the bowed strings had been placed in different categories....

The more I play with it, the more I like it... looks like I am more likely to talk myself into it than out :hihi:

I was concerned that the integration of MPE Slide and Pressure in the presets might not be that great, but it actually seems pretty good in most that I've tried so far. Between that, the audio quality, and the ease of tweaking I'm definitely going to buy this---sometime this year. Leaning towards buying on the intro sale with the extra discount from JRR Shop.
