jcub,
Nice tune! Yes, the Stick really rocks on this song; nice tone! How did you get the Stick tone? The vocals, keys, rhythm guitars, and drums are very good too! Someone on the u-he forum was asking about my collaborations with you just recently. Anything else new with you? Perhaps you could check out my latest thread on this forum.

Interesting tune. I like Shane's description of muscular timbres. I dig the guitar and bass tones. The singer reminds a little of Billy Corigan. The lyrics have a real appocalyptic/sci fi vibe. The melodic voicing of the guitar solo sounded Frippian. Not to everyone's taste probably but it was an interesting idea.

Thanks for the comments! I have received enough feedback on the solo that I am considering trying it again. It is a bit "outside" harmonically. My brother Dan (an actual professional) mixed it so I am not sure what he did to the bass sound. I originally recorded it through a Two Note Opus using one of the guitar amps with some distortion - for some reason I liked the sound better than the bass amp. I played it on my NS Chapman Stick. Not much new with me on the musical front other than playing keys with the Alan Scott Band in the DC area - one tonight and one on Thursday opening for Living Colour.

Great track. Agree with others, the solo would be better if it soared... rather than sprinkled notes.
Everything else is muscular and full of intent.

"Save me" is a beautiful, powerful song. The vocals bring in a lot of energy. I like
to hear the guitar work when it grooves well. That worked well here.
The solo in the middle breaks up the powerful flow a bit, it doesn't really fit
in my opinion. It's also almost too long.
In the last third, the original idea is taken up again - the previous energy
returns. The variation of the organ on the half left fits very well into the
overall flow. The ending with the toms is also very nice.
Overall: Very nice, energetic rock song - with still some potential!

Here is a new version with an alternate middle solo that is more "in" harmonically and rhythmically starting at 2:05 . . . .

I listened to the original version and didn't mind the solo. Although you should probably edit the original post and put both versions there. Not everyone is going to scroll through the entire thread when listening.
The track is beefy and energetic with lots of aggressive playing. I'm not a big fan of this style of vocals but it does seem to fit with the track.
Nice job.

jcub,
I think your newer lead guitar is better than the older one. I could be wrong, but some of the notes on the older lead guitar sound off-key to me. That's one thing I like about Melodyne. If I play an electric bass note, or a monophonic lead guitar note off-key, there's a good chance I can fix it later. Or I can experiment, and try a variety of different notes, and see what I like best.

As I listen to this track, I am reminded of Tool and King Crimson.
For me the highlights of this track are the bass guitar and the vocals. I also like the rock organ in the last break & outro.
I prefer the sound of the guitar solo from the alternate take; I think the tone fits the vibe of the track better. Although the vocalist does sound a little like Billy Corgan from Smashing Pumpkins at times, the vocals are pleasing to listen to and do not grate on my ears (like Billy Corgan's vocals tend to do).
I like it; well done!

I preferred the solo on the original track. It did have a more "angular" sound, but I listen to a lot of Crimson, and have many of the Gunn solo albums, so I can see where you were coming from. I also thought that there was a better build in the intensity during the original solo.
Good work
