TAL-Pha is an instrument plug-in that emulates the sound of the analog 80's synthesizer Alpha Juno II (MKS-50 is the rack version).

The plug-in produces the classic analog sound, combined with modern flexibility and many additional functions. The plug-in can read and convert sysex information from the hardware and can also be used as a controller.

This was a post on vicontrol which was either removed or moved because I can't find it anymore.

Basically, The Unfinished (https://twitter.com/MattBowdler) has some demos up of a new synth to be released tomorrow.

He gave some hints:

* "It's a mid-80s synth from one of the big hitters of the analogue synth world. Got used a lot in synth pop, techno, and rave."

* Apparently, 40 different synths were guessed and no one got it right.

* He also hinted something about the developer - that they have other synths available and that they're "pretty good" and that we all most likely have at least one of their synths.

* It's also polyphonic.

I was thinking Kawaii, Akai, Crumar or Casio as "mid-80s" candidates. And in that, a SX or AX (60?). Something on the bottom end leans me more to Crumar though and some of the midrange presents feels a little Casio.

Anyone have the list of 40 already guessed?

Edit: Just realized it's supposed to be based on an analog synth. What if it's actually a digital synth like the TX81Z, and the sounds in the video are designed to trick us into thinking it's something else?

If he thinks we all have a synth by them it's probably Arturia. The wording suggests Roland and the Alpha Juno, or maybe Kawai and the K5. Not many combos that fit the bill.

Begs the question of whether the "synth we owned" is software at all though.
That does suggest one of the more popular in the 80s to start then. Korg, Moog, Roland, Sequential, Yamaha. The others we've suggested are not nearly as ubiquitous across the markets. Unless their advertising is to be believed.

Also, there's a question of it being analog or digitally controlled analog?
