Sound Magic releases Neo EQ

10th January 2012

Sound Magic recently released Neo EQ, a new EQ VST plug-in for Windows that is able to automatically detect and lock in the most audible/sensitive frequency. It costs €49.

NeoEQ is designed to analyze the audio input and find the right frequencies for the user. After NeoEQ finds the frequency, the user can adjust the bass, the basic frequency and the harmonic for it. Sound Magic has analyzed over 200 mixing engineers' methods on EQ and developed three special algorithms for bandwidth. The user can pick their musical/engineering style and Bandwidth will be automatically calculated.

NeoEQ is dynamic. The cutoff frequency in NeoEQ is always changing as the input audio changes. A 2dB boost sounds similar to an 8dB boost on a common parametric EQ.

Another key feature that NeoEQ provides is that the user can analyze a piece of audio first, then hold the frequency characteristics of it and apply that setting to other audio tracks. In this way the user can clone a static EQ setting from one audio track to another easily.

Equipped with the Sound Magic Auto Distortion Correction Peaking Filter Technology, NeoEQ is designed to provide a low distortion rate. Less boost/decay and narrower bandwidth makes any distortion far less than traditional EQ. Measurement results prove that NeoEQ only brings around 9% of the distortion of a traditional parametric EQ unit.
