Apple announces Garageband 2

As part of the new iLife '05 update, Apple has announced the forthcoming release of Garageband 2.

GarageBand 2 adds 8-track recording, pitch and timing correction, and it now displays and edits musical notation in real time. A new GarageBand Jam Pack has also been announced - Jam Pack 4: Symphony Orchestra.

iLife '05 will be available in the USA on January 22nd and worldwide on January 29th for a MSRP of US$79 through the Apple Store, Apple's retail stores and Apple Authorized Resellers. The iLife '05 suite of applications will be included with all new Macs, and an iLife Up-To-Date upgrade package is available to all customers who purchase a new Mac on or after January 11th that does not include iLife '05 for a shipping and handling fee of US$19.95.

Jam Pack 4: Symphony Orchestra is sold separately and will be available on the same dates for a MSRP of US$99.
