Wave Alchemy releases Evolution Drum Machine Plugin for Kontakt Player

4th January 2018

Wave Alchemy has announced the release of Evolution, a new drum machine plugin powered by the free Kontakt Player. It's available at the introductory price of £119.96 (20% off until January 19).

Evolution is a software drum machine powered by a vast collection of electronic and acoustic drum and percussion hits, and sound design tools. Comprising over 28,000 samples captured using an array of vintage and modern drum machines, synths and acoustic instruments, found sounds, foley and more, the Evolution sound library is a labour of love – the result of five years' and many thousands of hours' work.

Evolution's interface enables up to 12 'voices' to be brought together in a kit preset, each one a mix of three discrete sample layers, loaded via an easy-to-use browser. Find your perfect blend of drum sound, attack transient and sound design element (subs, ambiences, tails, etc.) for each voice using the X/Y pad mixer, then process and modulate every layer independently or as a group. The Voice page offers pitching, filtering and playback controls; and EQ, compression, distortion, transient shaping, convolution reverb and delay effects are available per-voice and on the master bus. The comprehensive Macro system, meanwhile, lets you assign almost any parameter from anywhere in the instrument to each of eight Macro knobs per voice for manual and sequenced modulation.

Far from just a static sound module, Evolution also boasts a powerful sequencing engine. Create patterns and grooves in seconds with the Classic Sequencer, then go deep with the Global Sequencer, where all 12 voices are sequenced together – simply drag to set the velocity of each step, and hit the Zoom button to expand the current lane for detailed tweaking. Things get wild in the FX Sequencer, where the pitch, panning, effects sends and Macros of each voice are modulated over time; and with up to 12 sequences available in a patch, there's plenty of space to build beats for every section of your track, ready for export as MIDI files via drag and drop.

Evolution also features over 400 preset kits and patterns, full NKS compatibility, multi-output support, per-voice colour coding, three tape-saturated variations on the core instrument, analogue simulation, voice and sequence randomisation, and more.

It's available now at an introductory price of £119.96 until January 19 (MSRP £149.95).

Available in Standalone, VST, AU and AAX instrument formats. Evolution is powered by the free Kontakt Player from Native Instruments.
