NUSofting releases Modelonia v1.0

21st November 2005

NUSofting has released Modelonia, their physical-modelling synthesizer which uses a hybrid of two distinct model 'types' - a plucked-string model, and a blown-bore (i.e. trumpet-type) model. Each model may be used simultaneously, and the signal path allows cross-modulation between the two models for more interesting and complex tones.

Modelonia is not simply an emulation of acoustic instruments; advanced physical modeling has been used to enable the creation of lively and expressive new sounds and harmonic textures. The interface has been designed to be as easy and helpful as possible for newcomers to this synthesis technology, without compromising Modelonia's sound design capabilities.

Modelonia is designed to be the first compact multi-purpose virtual synthesizer which use the physical-modelling technique as the only sound source and does not enhance it with multi-effects or sweepable filters (VCF in the Subtractive tradition), Modelonia sound shaping ability relies solely on physical-modelling.

Modelonia comes with a bank of 96 default presets plus a "Sound Wizard" to get started creating several different families of sounds.

Modelonia costs $145, but a special price of $99 is available for registered users of HarpTime, Microrock, Peti, EMM Knagalis and EVE.

A demo version is available with the following limitations:
