Arturia has announced that is has updated its reproduction of the legendary Yamaha CS-80, the CS-80V, to version 2.0. The upgrade is free for all registered users. Arturia has also updated Moog Modular V to v2.5.
The main improvements in CS-80V v2.0 are:
- VCF audio quality improvements.
- Ring modulator audio quality improvements.
- A new preset navigation system called SoundMap.
- Lower CPU utilization on Mac OS X.
- Better Audio Unit compatibility (Digital Performer most notably).
- Ability to use NRPN MIDI messages for automation.
- Better handling of control surfaces while changing preset.
- Fresh batch of presets made by a selection of top sound designers.
- MIDI RPN "pitch bend range" message is now recognized.
- New Syncrosoft copy protection.
- Numerous bug fixes.
Changes in Moog Modular V v2.5:
- Switch to Syncrosoft copy protection.
- VCF audio quality improvements.
- Lower CPU utilization on Mac OS X.
- Better Audio Unit compatibility (Digital Performer most notably).
- Ability to use NRPN MIDI messages for automation.
- Better handling of control surfaces while changing preset.
- New presets added.
- MIDI RPN "pitch bend range" message is now recognized.
- Miscellaneous Bug fixes.
Both CS-80V v2.0 and Moog Modular V v2.5 are compatible with Windows 7 and Mac OS X 10.6 ("Snow Leopard").
