Numerology 1.4 Preview

Audio Mixing Updates
Each group now has access to four stereo aux sends and a stereo panner. Each aux send can be set pre or post fader. Pre-fader sends allow you to setup sub-mixes that share effects.

The Numerology mixing panel has also been updated with stereo level meters and a master channel with its own meters and volume control.

Audio Hardware Prefs
Numerology 1.4 allows you to choose any available hardware audio interface with CoreAudio drivers for audio input or output.

If you are using a multi-channel interface, you will be able to direct the output of any Numerology group to any stereo pair of audio outputs. You can also use SoundFlower from Cycling74 to stream audio from Numerology directly into other programs for further mixing or recording.

Aux Groups
Each Numerology Group now comes with its own set of audio preferences for audio input and output. By setting the audio input for a Group to one of the four stereo aux busses, you turn that group into an aux group for processing of audio from an aux bus. Aux groups also have aux sends, so that you can "flowover" audio from one aux group to another

Improved timing with AU plugins

Numerology 1.4 offers improved note scheduling accuracy with Audio Unit plugins. Not only does this allow for even tighter timing for AU sequencing, but it also allows you to generate notes at higher rates when using Gate Division. In addition, when used as an Audio Unit host, Numerology 1.4 allows you to set the internal execution rate of Numerology's sequencing modules, allowing you to adjust from a CPU-friendly traditional rate of every 44 audio samples (approximately every millisecond when using 44.1Khz audio), to full audio rate execution. This update also resolves missing note issues with plugins from Native Instruments and improves performance with plugins that use AudioUnit tempo-tracking callbacks.

Group Import

Now you can build new Sessions in Numerology by importing groups from other Numerology Sessions. This makes it easy to compile a large library of sequenced parts that you can combine to create new compositions quickly and easily.

There's More In Store

Not counting dozens of performance enhancements, fixes, and tweaks, there are a number of new goodies in the plans, including new clock division options for all sequencers, new scale quantize modes, and an XY controller module. Numerology 1.4 is currently in beta testing, and is planned release in late May of 2004. As is customary for Numerology betas, all registered users are allowed and encouraged to use and comment on beta releases.
