Kenneth Rundt has updated SynthFont to v1.110 and VSTSynthFont to v1.020.

SynthFont v1.110

Bug fixes:

  • Drawing misalignments & such fixed in the Pianoroll.
  • The CC window was not aligned with the Pianoroll window.
  • MIDI looping issues (for example the looping based on MIDI metadata).
  • Not all available controllers could be selected for editing in the CC window.
  • Improved sync between sound and Pianoroll scroll in playback.
  • WMA support is now optional (and never supported on Windows 98).
  • The "Go" and "Add" buttons for favourite folders in the "Play to File" dialog didn't work.
  • Some VST instruments like Toontrack's EZDrummer and Steinberg's Groove Agent were silent.
  • Some VST instruments would not shut down when SynthFont was closed, which would leave an invisible SynthFont process in memory.
  • 24bit data without the Playback volume Soft button down was scrambled.
  • Some GigaStudio (GIG) files, especially version 3, were not read correctly.
  • Memory overflow in MIDI edit Undo.
  • This version works on Windows 98 also, but conversion of audio WAV to WMA is not enabled.

New features:

  • CC legato pedal, # 68, extends the release part and decreases the attack of the next note.
  • Higher horizontal and vertical zoom resolutions in the Pianoroll.
  • Stretch function in Pianoroll/Batch Edit - multiply all events by a factor <> 1.0. Optionally also change the BPM. For example, a song originally encoded at 50 BPM can be "multiplied" by two to play at equal speed at 100 BPM.
  • In the Pianoroll you can select track also with an up/down scroller.
  • The extra time playing at the end of the file, to let notes and effects die out, is now an option. See "Setup".

User interface:

  • Some more color schemes (see menu item "View") – just for fun.
  • Removed unnecessary functions from the "Wave editor", which is now called "Sample data".
  • Some other minor changes too small to mention.

Others:

  • The option of using a circular buffer for MIDI file playback has been removed. The multiple buffer method is now always used. You can still set the size (number of buffers) in "Setup", "Synth Engine" to minimize dropouts.
  • For live playback from a MIDI port, ASIO is preferred. An alternative is to use the smallest combination of multiple buffers and size. See "Setup" and "IO Ports".
