LinPlug has released Alpha 3 and its free sibling, Free Alpha 3. Both virtual instruments are now available for Windows and Mac OS X Universal Binary in VST and Audio Units formats. Alpha 3 costs $99 / €79; upgrades are $19 / €19.
Free Alpha 3 shares the same engine as Alpha 3 but has a cut-down feature set. A comparison chart detailing the differences between the various versions of Alpha is available here.
Alpha 3 features the following main improvements:
- Improved sound quality.
- Noise oscillator.
- Filter-FM.
- Adjustable and modulatable ring-modulator.
- Increased polyphony (now 32 voices).
- Improved ECS (MIDI learn).
- Now 3 LFOs.
- Larger modulation matrix (now 7 slots).
- More than 150 new presets from some of the best sound designers.
