SynthFont v1.050 now available

SynthFont has been updated to v1.050.

New features:

  • Support for using Gravis Ultrasound (GUS) patch files (not complete yet).
  • Introduced a new file format: the "group" file - combine several files into one "GM" file. This feature will let you take a bunch of e.g. GIGA files and GUS files and assign them to the GM MIDI programs, one file and preset per program (Typically GIGA and GUS files contain only one preset). If you assign a file with many presets (e.g. a SoundFont), you still have to select the preset that will play for the particular MIDI program. The only additional function is that you can change the loudness (volume) of the preset.
  • MIDI files can be associated with SynthFont. See main menu "Files".
  • Improved support for users with restricted write access to certain folders.
  • Added a Metronome. You can change the volume of the tic sound in Setup.
  • Main volume and BPM automation. Push the AUTO button for a popup menu with functions - Better support for 8 bit, 24 bit and 32 bit audio data ("wav" files), also in Viena.
  • Support for editing the MIDI Tempo (BPM) Meta data in the Events tab.
  • Default user banks. Banks from other SoundFonts can be set to override the bank in the default SoundFont. Removed the undocumented and awkward track banks feature.
  • All events in a track can be shifted back or forth in Pianoroll/Edit Notes.

Bug fixes:

  • The arrangement file "Save As" dialog did not automatically add the file extension if deleted from the name.
  • The MIDI Continuous Controller "Breath" was badly interpreted.
  • Program changes in the middle of the MIDI stream were lost.
  • Markers where not always created when pressing the "M" button in play controls while playing - Pure audio tracks were silent.
  • Tried to fix the obscure "Nothing to play" bug.
  • Fixed memory leaks when editing the MIDI file stream (undo buffer was not released).
  • Minimized the amount of silence at the end of output files.
