Chainer

Reviewed By AndreasE [all]
October 10th, 2002
Version reviewed: 1.03 on Windows

I have to edit my old review now for version 1.03:

With Chainer you can play as many VST/VSTi as you want at the same time or independent from each other. Each VST-instrument is multitimbral with Chainer. You can create new presets for each instrument very easily and fast. The automation is very good and easy.

There are no presets, because it is no instrument itself, so I rated this high. The same for the sound quality.

The GUI is fine and easy to understand and context sensitive by right mouse click.

I had no stability problems.

Problems and bugs are supported very fast and very well. 4 bugs that I reported were eliminated within one week.

Space Synthesizer / Effect

Version reviewed: 1.2c on Windows

With this synth you can produce a nearly infinite number of evolving and static pads and "spacey" or ambient sounds, which mostly sound very interesting and good. You are helped by the included automated patch creator, which makes it very easy to create new sounds - a great idea, which works very fine. But also the included 64 presets are sounding very interesting.

I had a problem with Logic 4.8 and Mikael Hillborg gave me best support (and it´s fixed now).

The manual is very clear and understandable.

Some Problems?
Sometimes the sounds are not stable.
The GUI: It is a little bit difficult to read because of the somewhat low-contrast.
And a minor patch list problem.
But I´m sure that Mikael will fix these things in the next versions.

The VFM is extremely good, not only as you get some extra effects and the patch creator in addition.
For me this is absolutely the best synth in this field.

Pentagon I

Version reviewed: 1.1 on Windows

I just downloaded and tested release 1.1.

René writes about this version:
“We worked very hard to get this release out, in a big effort to make Pentagon I one of the most complete and powerful instruments in the market.”

What an understatement! Pentagon I is definitely the most complete and powerful instrument in the market. It´s unbelievable what a virtual synth is capable to do today for that low price. And this release with all these fantastic improvements is for free for registered users. Thank you for your excellent work René and rgc. I´m very, very impressed.

Organ One

Version reviewed: 2.01 on Windows

EDIT: v.2.01 is even better, so I updated my review/rating.

It is a very good sounding organ with many features. I like it very much and don´t have serious critics on it. And it costs far less than the NI B4 organ. For that price you can´t make a fault if you buy it. I don´t understand that it is not known and loved even more.
