I prefer this to Savihost as it is faster and more reliable, it does have it's limitation though, the most apparent it doesn't do VST3, but for just trying out a synth it's good enough. For 32-bit synths I would recommend the Minihost though.

If you're looking for something which can host more than one at a time I recommend the free version of Voltage Modular and use the stand alone as an VST host. Set up a preset with as many VST host modules as you want. It does VST2 and VST3, only 64-bit though.

I got mine for a ridculous 5 or 10 pounds, or less even, can't remember. I even have a second one I can't remember when I got, probably in a bundle. Is it worth full price, I don't know, but I know I have paid a lot more than $100 for stuff worth less than the Hybrid 3, and you always get it on sale for pocket change anyway.

The impression you get from the presets is that this is a house/techno synth, not my type of genres, but if you get under the hood you'll discover it's a very versatile and powerfull synth. It lacks some of the analogue warmth I usually go for, but the sound is exceptionally clean.

No, they're not top sounding, they are good though, and some of them are actually quite clever. You can get better sounding alternatives to at least some of them for free. If you are on a budget and can get them on sale, I guess they are pretty good.

I love this, it's so easy to use and it really makes almost anything sound better and is low on cpu.

I don't know the original Cheeze Machine, but this is really good by any measure and probably one of the best freeware synths you can get your hands on.
