hi,
I occasionally write tunes but never promote them cos I'm not usually very happy with the results. If anyone has time could they listen to a few tracks and tell me what they think?
I think my best are:
http://www.oli.adbe.org/sounds/oscilocy ... orelei.mp3
http://www.oli.adbe.org/sounds/oscilocy ... orning.mp3
http://www.oli.adbe.org/sounds/oscilocy ... baline.wma
http://www.oli.adbe.org/sounds/oscilocy ... errain.mp3
http://www.oli.adbe.org/sounds/oscilocy ... ixtlan.mp3
listen to the others at www.oli.adbe.org
I appreciate any comments (however harsh!). Personally i think my music doesn't flow very well and some times ends up being cheesy.
thanks,
oli

In yer face Nature.
Some nice changes, especially the guitar parts.
Vocal works well too.

curses! I no longer have the first comment!
listened to the lorelei & wrong morning song just now and I must say I like it!!! quite a lot actually.
you are drawing outside the lines and that is good!
The intro of lorelei seems sort of pieced together but not really fitting nor with any clear direction.
The bell with the guitarpart sounds very plastic-like, which is a pity. The voice, eventhough computer generated, is filled with emotion. It sounds very sad (as in like a real emotion!). I couldn't make out any of the words though.
your rhythms are nice! interesting things are happening with nice transitions. and your sound are nice, crispy clear & sharp. I like that.
wrong morning is omnious. The footsteps(?) are sort of cool I think, but I am not sure. I made up my mind, they are cool. The high sounds are nice too although some of them are a bit too high for my delicate eardrums.
I think that the bells that start after/around the 6minute marker are a bit too high in the mix or something. I think they are floating too high above the noisy sound below it. and maybe the cymbals (?) at the beginning are too loud in the mix. I don't know if they are cymbals but I mean that big copperish dish that you can hit. Anyway the sound that I mean is at the 2minutes marker.
What kind of equipment did you use to make these songs?
I admire the orginallity of your approach to music! I will be checking out your other songs later on.
thank you for sharing & keep up the good work!

for most of my music i use cubase sx, grm tools, granulab, audiomulch and prosonic morph. Wrong Morning uses lots of audiosculpt timestretching and was arranged using pro tools (at uni).
i wasn't sure about the high pitched sounds either. The idea was to make the piece more powerfull by using extremely high frequencies that people usually don't use. Unfortunately i don't think it worked and it just ends up hurting your ears.
I'm glad you say my music is original. I think that's the most important thing.

Intriguing, inspiring and most of all great sounding. What a joy to listen to Lorelei and the shifts it makes. A full journey in such a short time. Expressive and flowing. I think I know what I am listening to tonight....

thanks Mystahr!
comments like yours make me feel more confident about making music. I'll have to do some new tracks.
