Try the 5.2 beta first, lots of fixes in it.

I went backwards to 5.1.6 and the issue is gone so far. I had it up above 50% DSP and it recorded and played back fine all night without a problem. 5.2 wasn't available on the master branch.

I was working on a grid patch in a drum machine instance. The audio engine seems to get unstable after a few minutes of making noise in/programming in the grid. A lot of presets that are grid-based will flip out if I load them, so I avoid them and most presets in general. Although someone's creating all these presets with huge chains/complex grid programs so it's not a problem for them. If I disable/enable the audio engine, the noise goes away for a while.

It is rare, but i've had a project and seen/heard wierd clicking and i was so sure it was a VST or it's Patch, so i removed one by one, and it was a sampled hat... no WAY? hehe
But try that and replace see what that does.
Also, trying the same identical project on Linux seems to always be better.. go figure
