Old definition: producers are higher up in the foodchain, getting more money than their artists/musicians while (seemingly) doing less. Contributing with their mouth, not their fingers. Giving direction where to put their soul into the project.
New definition: dude with a computer that makes music all by himself, which goes nowhere.
[edit] forgot to mention: lower in the foodchain than musicians, have to beg them for collaboration in order to put some soul into the project.
Same friend as "asking for a friend"?Kalamata Kid wrote: ↑Mon Apr 22, 2024 1:37 am A friend claims he is not a musician but a producer.
He mostly creates music within a DAW without playing an instrument.
Who cares, if that makes him happy.

For me, it's a mindset. I dabbled with music for a while but never called myself a musician. Once I started taking it seriously, I gave myself that label. Although in retrospect, I was always one.

ne1 can play geetar
-Thom Yorke
-so maybe anyone can be a musician,
but I suggest we need to make a piece of music, is all
don't think even tet is really needed,
just some goat skin and found sound, I really don't mind
I ask myself the same really,
if u have it, u r it
I like calling them it and what too
be like 'serenade by What'
-there was 'amusing' too, another root derivation,
sounds harder to qualify
