I definitely use VCV differently from Eurorack -- much more of a passive drone/generative thing, or just an effects chain. I could justify getting Meta on that basis, but I don't want to give up anything to make space for it and another case is out of the question.
(One thing about VCV, I'm more likely to fire it up and play with it while waiting for the compiler while I'm working from home. So a lot of the time I'll patch something up in VCV standalone, then save it for a later session with the full setup.)
Really hoping to keep my studio fairly stable for the rest of the year. Morpheus, cDVCA, Ana 2 and Algo are all pretty new to me and deserve a lot of attention/exploration... same for Myth and Sumu. There's some less new stuff (both hardware and software) that I want to dig deeper into as well. Aodyo Loom and and Landscape Ferrous are on preorder. That's enough toys for a while

Thanks, I'm a noob it comes to the HP system, do you know what that particular rack is in image as well ?Shabdahbriah wrote: ↑Sat May 18, 2024 1:48 amYes, with a couple of caveats. The Neutron is 80hp wide, which is 4hp (0.8") short of the 19" racks spec of 84hp.These resolve that issue:

Other than that, if you use one of these, with its 4U segments:

There will obviously be a 1U blank space exposing the rack rails on both sides of the Neutron. That's it.

I feel like I have to get one of these:

I would get it and put it into a euro rack case along with a CV controllable mixer so that I can have a mix with the 2600 and some drum modules like the Bastl crust:

A Sonicware Texture Lab just arrived. Been putting it in online shopping baskets and taking it out again for several weeks, finally pulled the trigger.
Nice compact size, battery powered, and to me, sorta like a polyphonic microgranny on steroids, so hopefully quite useful and interesting.

Make Noise Contour
This was on my original shopping list, but prices were never great, but today I stumbled on one for $100! A legit used price, no markups.
I’ve always wanted to add this one for a quick 0-Coasty envelope.

did you see that the last batch of erbe verb is on its way out to stores?

Yep! I’m considering putting another order in after cancelling my last one. I’ve been using Echophon more and more. Can’t help thinking I’d get along with Erbe-Verb the same way.
EDIT: ordered.
I think I had a better deal on my first pre-order, but oh well. Regular price is still cheaper than those hiked up prices.
I also ordered black plates from audio parasites for Contour and Echophon. The Echophon should closely match the Make Noise aesthetic.

I got an Aphex Dominator 2 for my live rig. Not sexy but it gives me better control of my levels before I hit a venue’s PA.

Nice one. You can safely pull off the Echophon, Strega, Mimeophon echos for days patch!

It's a great unit. Bernie Grundman used to master through it. I had one that he modded, it was a cool mod but he didn't actually change the sound at all, just added functionality.

So I ordered a Spectravox and some right-angled patch cables and I am looking at euro rack cases.
I've already decided I don't want one with a little plug like the kind that broke on my HP laptop years ago... Right now it is between an Erica Synths traveller (6U x 104hp) and the Pittsburgh modular studio case (3 rows of 100hp) because they both have universal power supply.

Long as you're not assuming that just because these psu's have a housing rather than a brick, that they are somehow better than the brick type, essentially they are the same (e.g. switching type, that must convert to 5v), except that the one with the housing is more of a hassle and more costly to replace.Constructed Identity wrote: ↑Sun Jun 02, 2024 12:31 am So I ordered a Spectravox and some right-angled patch cables and I am looking at euro rack cases.

*I say hassle because you have to be sure not to electrocute yourself changing it out,
where with a brick you simply have to plug it in.
