Yes. It happens all the time. It doesn’t really matter that they’re free. If the company is big enough, their trademark lawyers will get bored and make threats.
I hate signatures too.

Sorry for the super-late reply, all. I just made another build and tested it on Reaper. I didn't hear any noise bursts with this one. You can download it here. Hope it works well for everyone :D

Gorgeous GUIs!
I don't know that much as a beginner, but you could probably easily go commercial. Maybe a model like free synth and paid presets or something.

By the way, is there any place where people post presets for KBplugs synths? If not it could be cool to centralize them somewhere.

Also another question, I see people, also for other plugins, saying they don't want to use 32-bit versions. But they seem to work in my DAW (Reaper 64)? Am I missing something?

And I've read those synths don't attempts to emulate the originals 100%, but how close would you say they are, on average?

Post

What great synths. Some of them have ONE preset!
One LOVELY preset, that proves that it can make great sounds.
There's no forum somewhere for people to create and share them?

Especially now that steinberg has cut off anymore VST2 instruments,
making the most out of the ones we've got might be important.

Good day,

I agree and would like to express my thanks to Mr. Kevin Brown and add...

If you haven't checked out Kevin Brown plugins, I believe you are truly missing out. He made so many interesting synths with various characteristics! At first I was a bit thrown off by the lack of presets, but after playing around a bit I really started to appreciate them more for it. It forced me to learn more about the building blocks and signal flow of each of the synths they were inspired by. I have so much fun just creating patches that I actually get lost in time! I also find that I am using them more and more in my songs. Yes, many are 32bit, but with jBridge they work great in my DAW of choice (Cakewalk/Sonar)!!!!

The following is a list of my personal favorites.
Naturally I haven't tried them all.... yet!

MatrixSix1
Juan, Oh Juan
Voyette
Osciet
Cronus
VQ-800
Tyro
JP-680
PG-238
OBie 2V
SH3p
Polly
SH-75
Tonus 2813
Luge
Again, though I haven't tried them all.... I really wish he create more!!!!

I just released some music that features quite a few presets from these synths.

Anyone interested in presets, just let me know.

AGAIN…. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!

Problem: all these 64-bit-ized VSTs have the same VST-ID, so Ardour accepts only the first one it scans, rejecting all the others with messages like this one:

Ignoring plugin 'tonus 2813'. VST-ID conflicts with other plugin ''M'_mv'

I'll look into it. Also, I'm working on porting all these synths to something, well... other than FlowStone. ;)

The KBrown synth page is down. Anyone have links to a mirror or can upload somewhere?

Post

The more I hang around at KVR the less music I make.

Post

It seems that kbrownsynthplugins.weebly.com is down (404 Page Not Found) and all plugins are no longer on KVR. I know the last post was quite a few years ago; but, stuff still keeps popping up of YouTube and on Google searches with nothing to be found.

Post

I think the last person here just linked to them:

The link worked about 5 mins ago but now it has a server error.
EDIT: It seems ok now, so maybe it was just the WiFi where I'm located

You might as well delete all of the links going to the K Brown Synth Plugins website. It's been gone for some time and all of his links going to the VST downloads have been deleted and removed. I even checked on archive.org
So it's now just a waste of people's time thinking they can go download any VST or bundle from the website when they see the Link(s) to it on here.

You are right for the most part. However, the second link is still active and you can download all the modular synths from there.

https://web.archive.org/web/20240228010 ... eebly.com/

The first link does not work. And that is where the real wealth of most of the synths were kept. It's been out for some time. I actually have a more recent snapshot of this page that I took myself a couple of months ago, and a couple of months newer than this last archive.

By the way, you need to copy the link and paste it in to a new tab, just clicking on it doesn't work. But it is there. You will figure it out.

I think it's another case of the Tragedy of the commons. These really were some exceptionally good synths and a lot of work went in to them, but they were not appreciated and very few people even said "thanks".

The first link was deleted by the author, but the second remains. Get it while you can. I downloaded it earlier and it is nearly a whole Gigabyte of modular synths. Alas, the other synths are well gone by now. The snapshot I took in April I think, had the teasers of the new synths, but the links were dead then so I could not download.

There is a torrent flying about somewhere, but again, that does not contain the latest synths.

I hope K Brown is doing well. I hope he puts his synths up again for us all to check out. I made a shortlist of the ones I really loved. Some real keepers there. The fact most had little to no presets didn't bother me. It reminded me of my first go on a real analog synth with no patch presets.

Anyway, if you follow that Web archive link you can see what you are missing! And you can also get the link to the second download which still works, but is just for his modular work.

Post

On another note, I'm not sure what has really gone on here. Some of these synths were very very recent and it seems quite a few of them didn't make it out in to the wild.

See Image

It just seems odd that the author took down one link but left the other one up. Perhaps it was an oversight as this is all from Web Archive.

There really were some absolute gems among that lot, but you had to dig deep.

I have every synth made by u-he for example, Avenger 2, Rob Papen Explorer, latest Arturia V Collection, need I go on?

It's just a shame that the author didn't announce these little gems to the world like on KVR where they might have had a good chance of life.

So much great free stuff now, like Ronan Fed, but alas, things seem to be following a pattern.
