Anybody have any luck on a USB HUB?

I need it to stay on and recognized.

It will be powering stuff like my dongles and external hard drives.

Hopefully, my Midi Keyboards too.

my understanding of this is ancient,
but a powered is more likely to deal with load?

-like, get a powered one

...set it up and forget

most things we get r usb2 I think,
but usb 1 is forward/backward compatible and the leads r the same
...it really is the peripheral format, others have not succeeded it

edit- I just looked at my unused one and it's usb3 too,
unpowered though, which, it my fault

yes, I was thinking powered too, this time.

I hope it works...

I have an RSHTECH Powered USB 3.0 Hub. It's an aluminum 10 Port USB 3.0 Data Hub with 12V/3A (36W) Power Adapter and Individual On/Off Switches & LED (RSH-A10). It cost £39 and has worked flawlessly so far ... I use it for 2x SSD's, 2x LED lamps, a DVD-R/W and a ReMOTE SL midi keyboard.

I've got a very simple one (costed maybe $10) with 4 ports. It can be powered when needed, but I never needed to. It works without that as well. But since it's like 20 years old you probably can't buy it any more. And I got it with a second-hand PC which had it's own ports all blown up. Currently it's in use as a "break-out" hub on a MacBook with only USB-C for connecting harddisks, keyboards, printers, thumb drives and whatever. It takes everything. The harddisk is as fast with the hub inbetween as it is when directly plugged.

What I'm trying to say: there's dozens, hundreds different hubs on the market. Was I lucky with this hub? I don't think so.
Don't overthink it. Just get one. If it doesn't work then it's junk and needs to return to the seller.

Yup, I think so too, now. I will be trying a powered USB HUB 👌
