Am thinking of shutting this page down as it a huge bandwidth drain and I no longer have time to police it.
In a perfect world, this would not be a problem.
I offered this as service to, well, KVR - to give something back. It has been abused to high hell and I really cannot deal with this at this point.
I am contemplating moving some of the instruments to Archive.org.
Thoughts?

I think you misunderstand. I am not talking about the forum here. I am talking about the Algo Music page on Westgatesounds.net.
I am thinking of uploading all of the Algo Music instruments to Archive.org so they can continue to be downloaded for free. I think that is a better alternative to just taking down the page.

Yes, I can understand that you really dont have the capacity to host this longer in your actual situation. And thanks a lot for doing this for such a long time. As I came to electronical music after this has already been gone it was really another moment of pure astonishment .
I know that this are to totally different devellopers but from a very close musical intention I would say and it would be great if someone could have an eye on this (which I think will not be the case with archive.org), so maybe worth asking Paule who is looking so carefully and with Passion after the HG Fortune stuff if he might find a place for the Algo Music sound there ?
Just a spontanious idea, dont know how this might be legally or if he has any interest to do this.

As far as I know, Paule puts everything up on Archive.org as well....
If I were to think legally - Guido gave me the right to distribute his instruments.
Which I did, in honour of TimC and to give something back to, well, everyone involved with this little corner of our world.
I think that means if I want to stop the bandwidth drain on my site that it has become I have two options.
1 - take the page down and cease distributing them.
2 - find a more permanent solution for people to always get the original, unmodified files for free.
The problem for me with solution 1 - the internet will provide. It always does. But who know how long the original files will remain unchanged?
Solution 2 seems to be where I find myself. I was granted a custodianship over the instruments and if I can no longer host them I have to find a way that makes the original files free. I will do that to the best of my ability.
The page is still currently active, but I will come up with a solution that I feels honours both Guido and TimC in the end.
Thank you for your thoughts.

Been thinking about and finally placed them on Archive.org
You can find them here:
https://archive.org/details/algomusic
It is the only way to ensure that the original unmodified files are always available.
There are files that I only can distribute via my site - so the page will stay up. I will modify the download links for the instruments themselves to point to the Archive.org page.
http://westgatesounds.net/AlgoMusic/index.html
Page has been updated. Links for the instruments now point to Archive.org.
All 3rd party content is still hosted by me.

I just wanted to make sure it was done properly.
This way, the Algo Music instruments are on an Algo Music page on Archive.org.
All of the 3rd party stiff is still hosted by me - partly because I only have permission to host them on my site but also partly because they cannot be attributed to Algo Music.
Best solution I could come up with.

Little hiccup..... Went to change some info - add an image to the page - created and new page and modified the original page.
Went to remove the new page and seemingly deleted the original page.
Scrapped everything and made something new.

This is temporary. Will try in the morning to get back the original URL.....
