I'm not a connoisseur of guitar tones and can't really speak to that angle of it, but I'm kind of surprised there isn't more fuss about this. It seems pretty comprehensive for $80 (or in the case of the WoS upgrade, free)

Hi hey212,hey212 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 29, 2024 5:19 pmI have a question, when I disable the internet connection to my Mac and load a new instance of Genome on a track, it loads pretty quickly. However, when I enable the internet connection to my Mac and load a new instance of Genome on a track, it loads very, very slowly. This is a huge usability problem. Will this be fixed?AmyTwonotes wrote: ↑Mon Jan 29, 2024 4:41 pm Yes we are giving GENOME for free to our Hardware and Wall of Sound users! GENOME is replacing Wall of Sound. Let me know if you have any further questions
Thank you for your post! Could you send your "Logfile.txt" found in > library/Two Notes Audio Engineering/Genome to our Helpdesk please? https://helpdesk.two-notes.com/
Please also state in the ticket (if you wish to disclose this) the country from which you're using GENOME. The team will be looking into it thanks!

Hey Amy, thanks for the reply. I've already sent the logfile to support, but it's not actually related to my system. They acknowledged that the slow load times effect all users.AmyTwonotes wrote: ↑Tue Jan 30, 2024 11:50 am Hi hey212,

What they weren't able to tell me yet is if this will be fixed. Hopefully Two Notes will realize that people expect plugins to load instantly, or as close to instantly as possible. Intentionally designing a plugin to take 30 seconds or more to load, so that the plugin can complete some network requests every single time it loads, is completely unacceptable and should be changed.
These network requests that occur on load must either be eliminated, or handled asynchronously so that they do not block the plugin from becoming immediately available for use.

I paid $75 for Amplitude 5 MAX, and it’s a better plugin, IMO. The amps sound a lot more dynamic and accurate, and there is a much wider variety of everything. A very flexible routing system, as well. The only thing I really dislike about it are the reverbs, but I have plenty of those, and some of the older cabinets are a bit flat sounding, but easily replaced with one of the good ones, or your own IR. It even loads stereo IRs, which is awesome.
I’m not saying Genome is bad. I actually liked it quite a bit, but I couldn’t find a sound in it that I didn’t already have that was at least as good or better. I think Tonex captures as easily as good as NAM captures, and it seems like the general quality and selection is better. I have to admit that I’ve not really been Keeping tabs on NAM for a while. Maybe it’s better these days.

I must agree that if you already have TONEX, there's not much in GENOME that you'll find, unless you hate its workflow or something.
I think GENOME is a cool concept, and I highly appreciate the ability to use WoS and NAM/AIDA captures under one roof, and the fact that I got it for free as a WoS user.
I think built-in amps and pedals are okay at best, I did not enjoy them at all. however, the inclusion of NAM makes all the difference, and it's cool to mess with pieces of gear I wouldn't otherwise have access to - I hope they start providing WoS-branded NAM/AIDA amp captures as well, as well as contribute to their development. that would actually put GENOME on the map for me.

I don't know what to write here that won't be censored, as I can only speak in profanity.

Good idea and good looking plugin that requires a lot of polishing: slow to load (very sluggish generally) , CPU usage is way too high... It really needs to get through a number of iterations and revisions to be up there with the rest.

Just installed the update that allows the plugin to work with stereo inputs, very nice! Still no improvement at all in loading time, but it's good to see updates happening.AmyTwonotes wrote: ↑Tue Jan 30, 2024 11:50 amThank you for your post! I was on a lookout for my itb guitar chain, when I got your email. Its SO generous of you guys to have genome for free. Its amazing. Workflow is great, and the sound is all that I could ask for. So natural to play and basically versatile enough that Im not going to need any outside vsts. The effects are great. Im truly greatful. Especially that the authorisation is so friendly.
I might sound like a paid reviewer, but im just really happy to stumble on Genome and thankfull to devs for this kins gift and great product. Having so much fun with my guitar now, after my real cab burnt. 10/10
