You mean how someone found a transcription of a "concert diary" in WaybackMachine that people are now taking seriously. I read that article back in the day, it was obvious bullshit manufactured to outrage when it appeared in the magazine it was published in, but these days people can't tell the difference. The original article had a description of every city they played ins heroin quality, hookers, porn magazines, and what the crowd was like, usually a super stereotypical description like "the germans all stood in a row orderly and bobbed their heads" etc.

I dunno man, the guy managed to live another 35 odd years without being accused of anything nasty, but now that he's dead and we're talking about him... :dog:

Yes, writing multiple times about loving child porn, being close friends with someone convicted of distiributing child porn and making an album with him about pedophilic child abuse seems worth noting if you bring up his problematic past.

Do you understand what transgressive art is?

I mentioned earlier that Albini always came across more like an edgelord when he attempted it, and he ended up apologizing for most of his involvement in attempts at transgression. The album in question is more like a document, it's all over youtube, since it's purely conversations with victims about the crimes. It is quite shocking, but not because it glamorizes or trivializes the subject matter, it simply is an audio recordings of victims and surviving members of sex trafficking talking about the crimes.

Sotos on the other hand is a, piece of work, it's that line that some people cross with transgressive writing, it's not illegal, but damn if it isn't the lower depths of hell? A local art dealer here was friends with Sotos and completely disagrees that he's a dangerous killer or kid fiddler, but he sure as hell doesn't care whether anyone thinks he is.

I think this conversation can't really go anywhere positive though, transgressive art is meant to make people uncomfortable, angry, and confused, so trying to defend Albini for being in contact with someone like Sotos means people immediately think you're defending serial killers, misogyny torture, the abuse of children etc. etc.

These days people have no idea what Transgressive art is, and it's probably even more dangerous than ever to attempt to make it, because this is the end result, a lifetime of art, two or three edge lord moments and here you are.

I remembered reading this where he covered his, shall we say, 'antagonistic' past, and was honest in admitting he'd been an arse;

https://www.theguardian.com/music/2023/ ... wrong-side

Forgot about this though;

"....On top of his work as musician and engineer, Albini is an accomplished poker player: last summer he won $196,089 .."
