Apparently there is a new version coming that looks further back into the existing track to guide the extension, so it might alleviate some of those issues.

It may shock you to realise that not every human being on the planet is a musician. Most of them are passive listeners, with little or no knowledge and absolutely no interest in how the music they listen to is made.

I'm sure it will evolve quickly. My point is that it's still at novelty level for music. Personally I look forward a musical equivalent to Stable Diffusion, something you can run on your computer for both generation and training, so you could get or make specific models. Exciting times, IMO. Just remember this is not an "intelligence".

No, but it's already a hugely capable thing. My bandmate has been getting perfectly usable songs from Udio and the other one he uses for a while now. Things you could play in a nightclub and no-one would realise it wasn't some obscure NIN or Stabbing Westward b-side. Same with that "Depeche Mode" song someone linked to a few pages back - if you heard that at a club or in a shop, you wouldn't question it at all, you'd just think it was a Depeche Mode song you hadn't heard before. So imagine that instead of trying to replicate an existing act, you use the same smarts to get something that sounds like the stuff you do or the thing that's stuck in your head... We only had to feed Eleven Labs' AI short snippets of three different songs to train it to sound like me, and that was more than a year ago.

I wonder how many folks would take it for 2024 AI fartjoke... It would be a beautiful turn.

What the hell does that have to do with "AI"? This has nothing to do with the mass production of fake music, plagiarized art, or the fake "intelligence" that people believe in, nor does it have anything to do with the goals of those who operate "AI".

Replacing humans in the marketplace of labor, art, ideas, and violence is an apocalyptic dead-end that doesnt require deep thought to consider, but of course all of this first requires the buy-in of people whose eyes can be dazzled by fake music and fake images and fake porn. Those people will eat out of the palms of the "AI" operators hands', while the rest of the science-literate folks shout from the rooftops - as usual.

Shortsighted, narrow-minded people really do rule the day, dont they. I mean its useful to the rich. You are useful.
