I made a DAW that has VST2 and CLAP support
http://bass-studio.com
Please feel free to try it.
It is closed source and I want to commercially release it.

I am hesitating to run this because I have a hard time understanding how even the most rudimentary DAW could be distributed in a 7MB ZIP file.mhept wrote: ↑Mon Mar 27, 2023 9:01 pm I made a DAW that has VST2 and CLAP support

Reaper is only 11MB, so it's not implausible for something really simple?

Code hardly takes much space and if the interface is all vector graphics then there's no need to have a lot of image assets either. Obviously in a 7MB distribution you won't have a large content library included... but like seriously code itself doesn't take a lot of space.teilo wrote: ↑Wed Mar 29, 2023 1:18 pmI am hesitating to run this because I have a hard time understanding how even the most rudimentary DAW could be distributed in a 7MB ZIP file.mhept wrote: ↑Mon Mar 27, 2023 9:01 pm I made a DAW that has VST2 and CLAP support

The binaries alone in Reaper are 48MB. Then there are another 100MB or so of assets.gauderbock wrote: ↑Wed Mar 29, 2023 1:26 pm Reaper is only 11MB, so it's not implausible for something really simple?
I'm not accusing anyone of anything. I'm just saying be cautious.

I tried to run this in a Windows VM, but it crashed / exited without showing a window.
In any case, I'm not going to add this to clapdb.tech until I can confirm its legitimacy. It would be refreshing to see a DAW with a highly tuned and optimized code base, vs. the bloat that is almost universal.

The filesize is so small because I avoid wasting resources by using
things like QT. I also compile all libraries in release mode.
The program requires Hardware OpenGL Acceleration to work.
I got it to work in a VM before, but there are problems with the
mouse coordinates when moving the mouse cursor.
I have been working on this solo since 2017.
If you get crashes, feel free to make a bug report on https://github.com/nidefawl/bass and post the %AppData%/bass/bass.log
Please understand I haven't prioritized documentation as it is pretty difficult as a solo developer
without financial resources to do all of the work on your own.
