Hi Andrew,
I'm just continuing the convo about i2C implementation with the Disting EX. So as we discussed in IG it seems that you can send i2C message TO the Disting EX from something like 16n. However, it would be killer if the Disting EX could act as an i2C leader and send i2C messages to something like an Orthagonal ER-301. The very first thing that comes to mind is taking the six inputs from the Disting EX and routing them straight down the i2C port numbers to the Orthagonal ER-301. Something so simple as the input pass thru would open up the Disting EX to SO many ER-301 owners as it would give us all six additional inputs for the ER-301 which so many of us have been trying to achieve with a Monome Crow or Teletype. All the Disting EX would need is a very simple way to assign itself as a leader and and set the i2C address, and then set the port numbers for each input to be passed to the ER-301. For reference the ER-301 receives i2C messages from addresses:
0x31
0x32
0x33
It also receives from ports 1 to 100
Beyond the input jack pass thru, I think an entire world can be opened up with the Disting EX and i2C. For example you could send Disting EX LFO's to the ER-301 and the sky's the limit after that. What do you think? Is all of this easy to accomplish in a future update?

It all sounds possible. What sort of update rate would you require when using the disting as extra inputs? I would imagine audio rate is out of the question.
Where do ER-301 owners hang out? I don't see myself becoming well versed enough with it to make all the right design decisions by myself. It would be good to co-develop this with the existing user base.

I'm not qualified enough to answer that question, but there's the Orthagonal forum:

And here are couple of i2C specific threads:

And finally a little bit from the wiki about i2C implentation:
