Plughugger has released Ultra One, the fifth soundset in their series of soundsets for Spectrasonics Omnisphere 2 where they take a synthesizer, sample it and recreate its characteristics in Omnisphere, and take it into new directions that would never be possible with the original hardware.
Ultra One is a collection of sounds based on the Virus TI synthesizer made by German synth maker Access. The Virus is a polyphonic and multitimbral hardware synthesizer, and might be the most popular synthesizer of modern time.
With Ultra One, Plughugger sampled a huge selection of its oscillators: from raw waveforms and intervals, to FM, wavetables, drums and experimental modulation sounds. From these sounds they recreated the sound and feel of the Virus TI in Omnisphere. As a part of the soundset, Plughugger also created a large number of sounds based on the Virus sounds in Omnisphere - both taken from the Virus Indigo sound sources and the internal synth engine, using the emulated Virus waveforms.
Apart from single presets, Plughugger combined another 50 sounds into complex multi-sounds.
Ultra One contains 260 sounds in the following categories:
- 78 Bass/Lead Arpeggios/Sequences.
- 15 Drum / Percussion.
- 36 Pads / Synth strings.
- 33 Bass sounds.
- 34 Synth sounds.
- 14 Textures and soundscapes.
- 50 Multi sounds.
Plus 124 INIT sounds for each unique sound source available in Ultra One (many of them are variations of the same sound).
