PlugInGuru releases MegaWav Epic and MegaWav Evil - 100 Patch Libraries for Xfer Serum
PlugInGuru has announced the release of MegaWav Epic and MegaWav Evil, two new patch libraries for Xfer Records Serum wavetable based synthesizer. These libraries were created jointly by John "Skippy" Lehmkuhl and Seth Norman and while originally this was going to be a single library, they both created a lot of fun patches and decided to create two libraries for Serum at one time.
So what's the difference between Epic and Evil? In a nutshell:
- MegaWav Epic contains 100 patches and is aimed at EDM/Pop Music and the BPM patches generally have a 4-on-the-floor flavor.
- MegaWav Evil contains 100 patches and is aimed at DubStep/BroStep/DnB/Bass Music and the BPM patches match these musical styles very well.
Every one of the 200 patches has all 4 Macro knobs and the Modulation wheel assigned to do serious sonic damage to the sound in interesting ways. This added programming takes a lot of time and is something that many other libraries ignore, say PlugInGuru.
Both libraries also include 61 custom, hand-crafted wavetables that John and Seth created exclusively for Serum. Many of the recordings that ended up as wavetables came from Analog Modular synthesizers. Other patches came from fully programmed patches in Massive and FM8 (Some of the patches are from existing PlugInGuru libraries for Massive or FM8 in fact). These wavetables were constructed in many cases slowly by hand using a process developed to assure the best sound quality and phase coherence from one wavetable slice to the next (there is a video showing this technique on the pluginguru YouTube channel).
The libraries cost $30 each but are available for the introductory price of $27 each, or $50 as a bundle, until December 1st.
Watch the Video Demo where they play through many of the patches if you want to get a closer look at the patches you will find in these libraries. Listen to the SoundCloud demos to hear the patches in action.
