UVI has announced Thorus, a new polyphase modulation effect designed for clarity, versatile features and an intuitive UI.
Thorus was intended as a next evolution of chorus effect, building on a state-of-the-art algorithm and advancements made in the development of UVI's Falcon and Sparkverb. A variable 8-voice architecture provides an extremely clear and detailed effect capable of generating a wide range of modulations from a typical 2 or 4-voice chorus up to a thick and immersive 8-voice configuration.
Signal inside of Thorus is routed in a 2-band configuration with sweepable low and high-pass filters, independent gain for each band and a harmonic exciter. All of these functions can be easily dialed in with just a couple click-drags over the visualizer; tame or boost highs, filter lows to keep the bass tight or add a harmonic edge to your track to help it stand out in the mix.
Thorus provides 2 operational modes; Standard provides a typical sound stage reflective of the input material where the optional Wide mode enhances the stereo image to great effect, capable of generating tremendously deep, modulating spaces. A selection of starting-point presets suitable for a wide range of material from vocals, guitars and synths to drums and electronic instruments is included along with an A/B preset comparison switch for no-risk experimentation.
Thorus represents the next iteration in modulation effect design, delivering a sophisticated yet easy-to-use feature set, exceptionally clear and defined sound and an attractive interface.
