GDoubler

GDoubler is a small plugin with only 3 controls and negligible CPU loading.

The Amount knob controls the mix of the doubled signal (=Dry/Wet). Just a touch is enough for desired effect.

The Feedback knob adjusts the tail length of the doubled signal. Again, It's better not overdoing it with settings.

Saturation adds some warmth to the input and output signals.

Let's start by saying, it sounds really good, and the DSP seems great, which makes me wish the plugin itself was much better.

Firstly, if you load the plugin with drive and output gain at zero, it still adds about 2 dB of gain for no reason. There is no negative output gain, so there is no way to reduce this gain internally, so to hear the effect of the saturation clearly you have to use an external gain controller to compensate, which is quite annoying.

The display is supposed to show the added harmonics, which I think is a very neat idea and it is visually pleasing. However, for some reason the first added harmonic only shows up when the drive is above roughly 2.5 dB. This is misleading, as running a sine wave at -18 dbFS through the plugin reveals that already at a drive of 0 dB an harmonic is added. Inspecting the spectrum of this sinewave as function of the drive shows that the display does not seem to be a very good representation of which harmonics get added, which makes it kind of useless. At a max drive of 48 dB the saturation effect transformed the sine wave into a square wave with only uneven harmonics present, and no visible aliasing effects, so it does seem to be a very clean effect.

Hopefully, the developer will get rid of this unnecessary 2 dB gain increase and will add an output trim in the future. I would suggest replacing the current harmonic visualizer with little bars representing the added harmonics, as would be observed in a spectroscope when running a sine wave through the effect, as this would be way more intuitive.

The effect sounds alright, maybe could be a bit more subtle. I wish there was a high pass filter on the input, to have the possibility to preserve the low end.

I don't like that even when the dirt and the drive knobs are turned all the way down, the plugin still heavily distorts. In my opninion, plugins should be completely transparant when all the knobs are turned down. Using the mix knob in FL Studio instead does not work due to phase issues.

I like the feature to decrease either the positive or negative amplitudes, although I feel like this could be combined into a single knob, as turning both knobs down is the same as decreasing the out gain.

Lastly, the UI is too large for how little knobs the plugin has. It is also not rescalable in FL Studio, and the UI consists of low resolution images.

Self resonating filter. It does not sound very natural compared to real one. It does not introduces much un natural digital sounding effects into stuff. It sounds like broken tube amp.

Its definitely not for standard music, author think its for acid. I am not sure about acid.

Because it sounds like broken guitar tube amp from 60s, why not build on its strength and add cabinet simulator to it and because author is good in making distortion plugins add also some distortion stuff to it and it can become really interesting product. Do we have broken 60s amp simulator VST? we don't.

While author markets this as stereo enhancing plugin, it is more saturator. It does something with stereo as well, but not as much as other stereo enhancing plugins. You can hear stereo effect but its not very impressive.

Its pretty usable saturator. It is better then author another saturator - Orange flavor because its more unique. Orange flavor is pretty boring - you already have 5 plugins sounding like Orangle flavor and effect its not very strong.

This one is pretty good for use like saturator and effect plugin. It will make analog-like sound from dry synths especially FM ones.

It REALLY NEEDS dry/wet knob, it will greatly enhance its usability as saturator.

Dirty Pumper is pretty fun to play with. It works good on Hammond giving it soft overdrive sound without adding too much highs. I don't think it will be good on guitar, but on organs it does the good work. On DX7 it is good as well. On drums, I assume will do the job well, but haven't tested it there. Its not actually pumper, since there is no LFO tremolo.

Plugin has two knobs for IN, OUT gain - this is good and quite unusual in world of free plugins.

GUI is too big and lowpass filter is not doing much, I would make it bit stronger.

Worth downloading.

This plugin is better then author another compressor GlowComp and I have not noticed any problems in UI. If you want to use compressor from author, pick this one.

Plugin have 2 compressors and can activate one or two. Gain control is included.
