Yes I see where you are coming from I just don't see where statistics will get "messed up".
If cancer is 20% and now a serial killer is the higher cause of death, then there is now less chance of dying from cancer. The percentage drops because there is less chance of cancer getting to the human since the serial killer may get the job done first (donc, higher percentage goes to the serial killer).
