Part 1 is up, a short video looking at the broad interface similarities between FL Studio and Studio One in my quest to transition to Studio One after using FL Studio for almost 20 years.
Ill be comparing the two pointing out strong and weak points of them both

Not really comparing DAWs in the critical sense, I will always be an FLStudio user, almost 20 years now! im switching to Studio One because i need the audio recording capabilities of a linear daw and the speed of composing that i get in FL. When there is no need for Audio recording i can switch between the 2 as i feel the need.

Also, i will definitely show the automation capabilities that exist between the two.
FL has way to much in the composing area to its benefit compared to other DAWS

I picked up FL Studio Producer a few months ago precisely because I was getting frustrated with the automation in Studio One, specifically the lack of automation clips and the way you end up with tons of automation lanes (that you have to edit individually) for even the simplest things.
Except for that one time I accidentally stumbled into that 1990's Nightmare called the "Event Editor", FL definitely handles automation more gracefully. However I've found plenty of frustrations in other areas (just as SO has its own flaws and frustrating design choices). I think the "Perfect DAW" is the one you've used for so long that you can take advantage of all features and work around the frustrating issues and design choices.

On the perfect Daw i totally agree. I dont use automation often so it isnt a feature im hungry for. The most id do is link a control to my keyboard and record that. I really just need great audio recording capabilites without having to do it in a separate daw from where i compose music. I tend to record a great deal of harmonies and having audio clips everywhere in the playlist editor has worn on me. I like the fast workflow for recording straight to the playlist, but organization makes doing a complete song a nightmare for me.

Studio One 3 /4 has the ability to create what are essentially automation clips and control that automation, as I've shown in this screencast.AdvancedFollower wrote: ↑Thu Jan 10, 2019 9:23 am I picked up FL Studio Producer a few months ago precisely because I was getting frustrated with the automation in Studio One, specifically the lack of automation clips and the way you end up with tons of automation lanes (that you have to edit individually) for even the simplest things.

I sense an impending three-way with FL being used as a plug-in with S1.
