There is a MPE to VC module for VCV Rack here: https://github.com/bafonso/Erratic
I know almost nothing about modular but some of you can say how usable this is.
@NightMachines, you have experience with modular synths, don't you? Have you tried modular + Linnstrument?

Think the hardest thing about modular and Linnstrument is polyphony... I've three modular systems at present and still haven't piped in the Linnstrument as yet since I prefer using it for poly sounds. Polyphony can be done in modular but having four+ identical voices soon gets expensive...

It's not so much as there isn't polyphony in modular, more it's expensive and somewhat fiddly to set up (in terms of voice allocation and such). Anyways, this appears to have all you would need so yeah, it looks good for a virtual modular environment.

The nice thing about MPE is that the controller cares about the voice allocation...
Create one voice, duplicate 3 times, make the pitch expression and trigger connections and you can play 4 voices...
(For those who don‘t know, VCV Rack is free software, no price tag to do polyphony...)

Free software, lots of modules, great community, hungry on CPU. My late 12 MacBook was screaming for air because of an FM oscillator and a sequencerTj Shredder wrote: ↑Sun Mar 24, 2019 1:05 pm

Before VCV rack I did end up buying Softube Modular when they released the MPE module for it. It had potential but since then I've got a lot more MPE controllers and I ended up with an actual eurorack setup. I got the FH-2 for MPE->cv but I havent got 4 voices in my eurorack setup yet, let alone 4 voices that are all the same. I kind of like experimenting with different voices for each MPE note though, so once I've expanded the FH-2 to give me more cv outputs, I will probably rope a couple of semi-modular synths into the setup to bump up my voice count.

Here's some very specific info on using Polyphony in VCV.

And this module might help you get there.

Thank you!
Yes, my MPE module will run on VCV Rack V2 exclusively. My goal is to make it possible to play very percussive like on a Hakenaudio Continuum and also make it possible to play very soft using the same sound.

Well, that sounds exciting. Would you share more details? Are you thinking about a sound source or some kind of MIDI routing to control other sources? Or something else_?Ahornberg wrote: ↑Mon Nov 29, 2021 12:29 pmThank you!

I'm going to create a VCV module that converts MIDI to CV signals - and nothing more.
There are already tons of sound-source-modules available (and mostly free) for the VCV Rack.
Every Linnstrument-Player is different, has a different playing stile and of course different needs.
So my approach is to make the transmission from MIDI to CV as costumizable as possible.
Here's a short video showing a prototype I made in summer using some CV modules:

Thanks! I never could get the host modules to work with MPE when I tried about a year ago. Looking forward to using MPE with VCV Rack 2 though!Dirk Diggler wrote: ↑Sun Nov 28, 2021 1:55 pm Here's some very specific info on using Polyphony in VCV.
