Good news for those of us who use both Bitwig and Studio One

I switched from Studio One 5 Pro to Bitwig about 15 months ago, sadly this is not retroactive as paying over €149 for an upgrade just to swap projects between both is just not going to happen. But I must admit its tempting LOL.duanosforde wrote: ↑Tue Sep 26, 2023 4:37 pm Good news for those of us who use both Bitwig and Studio One

Just checked I have over 70 Studio One Projects and the thought of bringing them into Bitwig easily is now even more tempting.
I suppose I could take out Studio One+ for month, now there's a thought

Ah this is great to see. I didn't have high hopes for anyone else adopting it. Reaper next would be awesome.

That would be great. The more affordable or entry-level DAWs support DAWproject, the more attractive it becomes for the established players to support it too, to encourage migration. And widespread support would be huge for users and DAW makers alike.
I'm fairly surprised Studio One is the first other DAW to be on board with it.

I took a first look at the exchange and the format itself:

I just released the 1st version of ProjectConverter which allows to convert between Cockos Reaper project files and the new DAWproject format!
The DAWproject format is already supported in Bitwig Studio as well as Presonus Studio One. Which means you can now exchange projects between these 3 DAWs!
ProjectConverter is a free open source tool and can be downloaded from:
https://mossgrabers.de
Here is the introduction video:

Enjoy!

This certainly will push you into the hall of fame forever. You deserve an extra star in Hollywood and someone needs to make a blockbuster about the fight for freedom of the legendary Mr. Moss…moss wrote: ↑Sun Oct 01, 2023 2:27 pm I just released the 1st version of ProjectConverter which allows to convert between Cockos Reaper project files and the new DAWproject format!

I gave Dawproject between Bitwig and Studio One a good try,but it currently does not work(at least not for me).
So then tried the Moss Project Converter. This converts Bitwig Dawproject songs and can export to Reaper, and this works very well. It will even convert between Bitwigs clip view including scenes.
In Reaper, all the scenes are displayed along the top of the Reaper arrangement page and can be mouse clicked to play the clips in them. It succesfully loaded all the VSTs used in Bitwig seamlessly. Of course,if you use Bitwig instruments to compose your song then a suitable VST substitute will have to be loaded manually.

Please report your issues to Bitwig and/or Presonus, so they can improve it.

The Bitwig conversion-export side seems to work fine. I exported and re-imported into Bitwig, and all was well. Its when you try to import the converted file into Studio One that it often does not work - very hit and miss. I see no point in reporting this to Presonus,as I am sure they must already know this.moss wrote: ↑Sun Apr 28, 2024 7:03 pmPlease report your issues to Bitwig and/or Presonus, so they can improve it.
