12-Bit Crunch releases "Powerhouse Breaks Vol. 2" sample pack

12-Bit Crunch have released the second volume of their sample pack Powerhouse Breaks. This series is designed to be a complete digital archive of the drum and percussion loops recorded for the Bandmaster Powerhouse drum machine, made in Scotland in the 1970s. This rare-as-hen's-teeth unit played back lengthy loops on 8-track tape cartridges, with the intention of drummer-less musicians being able to accompany themselves.

Volume 1 of Powerhouse Breaks archived the eight tapes that shipped with the Powerhouse, but there were an additional four tapes made for it (that are particularly rare), that add styles such as 'Latin Hustle', 'Philly Beat' and 'Disco Rock' to the catalogue. There were then two additional tapes made for the US market that covered Country music styles, that are even rarer still.

12-Bit Crunch is offering the loops from all 6 tapes, a total of 48, on 'Powerhouse Breaks Vol. 2' as 24-bit .WAV files at 44.1kHz.

Price: £19.99 at 12bitcrunch.com.

For the first month of release only they have two special offers:

  • 33% off Powerhouse Breaks Vol. 2.
  • 50% off Powerhouse Breaks Vol. 1.
