Baby Audio releases Atoms - Physical Modeling Synthesizer

BABY Audio

BABY Audio has released Atoms, their new synth plugin, employing physical modeling to produce an array of both organic and otherworldly sounds.

BABY Audio Atoms simulates interconnected masses and springs, allowing users to tweak properties and dimensions. The model is 'excited' by means of a virtual bowing action, causing the vibrations that generate the sound.

One of the most notable features of Atoms is its ability to mimic the organic fluctuations found in natural acoustic instruments, offering users six main parameters that can be automated to produce constantly evolving soundscapes.

Moreover, Atoms is equipped with a randomization engine that generates musically coherent patches with each activation. Users can fine-tune this process by adjusting random ranges or locking parameters to achieve desired outcomes. The plugin also features a second randomizer, the Recycle button, for generating patches similar to the current one, facilitating exploration of related sounds.

The plugin includes a variety of physically modeled effects, integrated into the mass-spring simulation for more natural-sounding modulation effects than traditional FX chains. These effects, alongside four sonic profiles, provide users with extensive sound sculpting capabilities.

Atoms Feature:

  • Chaos and Order controls for manipulating pitch glides and damping.
  • Force parameter to adjust the virtual bow's pressure, affecting noisiness and harmonics.
  • Overtones for adjusting the bow's position, affecting sound brightness.
  • Drive for harmonic clipping and a resonant low-pass filter for tone shaping.
  • An intuitive automation system for dynamic parameter movement.
  • A visualizer for real-time feedback on the mass-spring system's behavior.
  • Root & Profile controls for adjusting octave range and sonic character.
  • Attack & Release controls derived from the physical properties of the mass-spring model.
  • Unique modulation effects like chorus and vibrato, integrated into the physical model.
  • Built-in reverb for adding spatial depth.
  • Over 250 high-quality presets from leading producers.

Atoms also supports MPE-based polyphonic aftertouch, a global tuner, and offers two color themes. Users can switch between monophonic and polyphonic modes and engage an ECO option for lighter processing. A PANIC button is included for immediate cessation of all voices in case of unexpected behavior.

Atoms is available for a time limited introductory offer of $59 ($99 Reg.).
