DroneLab, the soundscape synth for iPad and iPhone, has been updated to version 1.3. The update adds sound sources with random fluctuation, new sound effect options, and updated visual effects.

The developer says this about the new version:

This update focuses on making the sounds a little more unpredictable, and the visual experience more fun and engaging.

Updated sounds:

  • New randomly fluctuating sound sources have been added to complement the sine wave-based sounds.
  • Now you can select more than one sound effect at a time. Sound effects are triggered at random during playback.
  • There are two new custom-sampled sound effects, Cymbal and Chimes.
  • Three new presets are included which incorporate the new sound sources and sound effects.

Updated visuals:

  • A animated display shows while sound effects are played.
  • The waves representing the three main sound components now move with a parallax 3D depth effect.
  • A new full screen mode hides most of the controls, maximizing the display of the waves.

The update also includes performance and stability improvements.

DroneLab 1.3 runs on any iPad and iPhone running iOS/iPadOS 14.2 or later. Additionally, DroneLab can now run as a "made for iPad" app on M1 and M2 based Macs.

Although it does not run as a plug-in, music producers and video creators can export audio files faster than real time (depending on the device), at sample rates up to 96kHz.

DroneLab 1.3 is available worldwide on the App Store for $2.99 USD, with prices and currencies varying by country.
