Felt Tip has updated Sound Studio to version 4.5, a free update for customers who've bought version 4.
New features:
- Adds Snap to Zero Crossings.
- Adds Insert Markers in Gaps or at Gridlines.
- AppleScript support for editing audio file metadata (artist, album, etc.).
UI refinements:
- Improved visibility of marker, cue, and other lines in the UI.
- Audio Units menu will be organized by folder if there are more than 30 plug-ins available.
- Split By Markers automatically fills in the Number of Tracks field if it is left blank.
- Updated timer recording, with a visible indicator that a timer has been set.
- Adds Automatic levels-based recording with new, simplified UI.
- Last Filter is remembered across different documents.
Lion features:
- Full-screen support.
- Retina display ready.
- Multi-touch gestures: magnify (pinch and spread) trackpad gestures to control zoom.
- Resume: support for restoring windows when quitting and re-opening the app.
Audio engine upgrades:
- Audio processing updated to use newer APIs.
- Uses AudioQueue for playback and recording.
Bug fixes:
- Fixes a bug where saving in Apple Lossless would not save the metadata and markers.
- Fixes some AudioUnit loading issues.
- Fixes a bug with copy and paste.
Other improvements:
- Presets can now be imported by opening the .soundstudiopreset file with the app.
- Updated Preferences, with ability to set default sample rate and sample size settings.
- Updated Ogg Vorbis libraries (1.3.0 and 1.3.2 respectively).
- Removes in-app help. All help is now on the felttip.com web site.
- In preparation for App Sandboxing, the Scratch Disk is no longer a preference.
