Madrona Labs updates Virta to v1.0.2 for Mac and Windows

Madrona Labs

Madrona Labs has released version 1.0.2 of Virta, their patchable toolbox for making audio-controllable synths and effects. The new version brings compatibility with Steinberg's Cubase as well as other improvements:

  • Added a MIDI-controlled effect version, enabling Cubase compatibility.
  • Improved graphics performance with OS X 10.11 (El Capitan).
  • Changed preset loading to strip unused settings.
  • Fixed a problem with Reaper always passing through dry audio.
  • Fixed a problem with audio stopping at some parameter settings.
  • Brightened background color.

Virta 1.0.2 is a free update for registered users. A free demo version—with saving restriction and a gentle reminder sound—is also available. A single Virta license costs $89, and allows installation on multiple Mac and Windows computers.

I can not make this work in Cubase 8.5. I suppose it is patched correctly as an effect insert in audio track. Output from separate MIDI channel is fed to that Audio track. Although the MIDI-reception light flashes in track, Virta does not seem to get any MIDI. And there is no audible effect in the audio whatsoever.

Maybe I have done something wrong? Has anyone managed to get Virta work in Cubase?

I have tested this version in Cubase 8 on both Mac and Windows. It sounds like you have the right approach, so I can't think what might be going wrong. Please email me at support at madronalabs.com and we can investigate further.

Found the solution few minutes ago:

In Cubase Plug-in manager -> lower part of the screen "Plug-in Information" -> Asio-Guard MUST be "inactive" (just tick it to change if it is active).

Now works like a charm (I have currently just the demo).
