Muon Software updates Tau Pro and Tau Bassline Mk2 (incl. Mac UB and AU versions)

Muon Software has given its web site a makeover and released new versions of Tau Pro and Tau Bassline Mk2. Both plug-ins have been updated to VST2.4 on Windows and Mac OS X and to Universal Binary on Mac OS X. Audio Unit versions are now available also. They have also been enhanced with easy MIDI learn on all automatable parameters.

As these haven't been updated for a long time, let's have a recap.

Tau Pro ($35) is more than just an acid bassline synthesiser. Its flexibility means that it is equally happy delivering seriously chunky lead riffs, deep junglist sub-bass or dubby textures.

Tau ProFeatures:

  • Dual 64-bit waveform oscillators: 11 waveform shapes with 2x oversampling for totally alias-free sound. Width modulation, sync & ring mod on all waveforms.
  • Multi-mode filter: 18dB Classic, 24dB Hi-Q and 36dB Phat modes.
  • Built-in FX unit: warm overdrive, chorus, flange and delay effects.
  • Full MIDI control: fully assignable MIDI CCs mean you can just right click on the user interface and link up to your hardware controller straight away.

Tau Bassline MkII ($20) is a monophonic bass line synthesiser with a single digitally modelled analogue oscillator, filter and decay envelope. Despite the basic architecture a wide range of synthetic bass tones can be created and tweaked in real-time, ideal for the acid and techno purist.

Tau Bassline MkIIFeatures:

  • 64-bit waveform oscillator: with 2x oversampling for authentic warm analogue style sawtooth and square waveforms, without noise or digital artifacts.
  • 18db Lowpass resonant filter: carefully modelled to have a classic, squelchy tone.
  • Full MIDI control: fully assignable MIDI CCs mean you can just right click on the user interface and link up to your hardware controller straight away.
