NOVAkILL announces "The Nitrous Project" and releases NitrousPM and NitrousPD Synths

-
NOVAkILL

NOVAkILL has announced that it is working on a new range of instruments under the banner of "The Nitrous Project". Initially, three compact, relatively simple, yet very powerful synths will be released - NitrousPM [available now], NitrousPD [just released] and NitrousNEO [available soon]. These three instruments will then be combined into TriNitrous, a single synth with multiple synthesis options, as well as layering ability. It will contain extra features to control mixing/layering of each module's outputs, as well as multiple cross-modulation options between modules.

NitrousPM
NitrousPD

All synths in The Nitrous Project have a brand-new modulation feature that works with the Gate Effect that NOVAKILL have been using for many years. It is called RARP [Random ARPeggiator] and, for every active step in the Gate's sequencer, it sends a random pitch variation to all oscillators over a user-defined range [up to 1 octave up/down from the root note, in semitones]. It is not a true arpeggiator, as it does not retrigger the synth's envelopes and will not run up/down a chord, but when used in conjunction with the Gate, it can perform a similar function. With the Gate's note tying and Sample & Hold added to the RARP's functionality, reasonably complex, quite unique sequences can be created very easily.

In total, TriNitrous will have 5 oscillators with 4 independent unison systems, 6 ADSR envelopes with multiple interpolation options and looping on 3 of them, 3 state-variable filters with 5 modes, 3 tempo-synced LFO, 3 Gate effects, 3 RARP pitch modulators and a Randomator, as well as 3 Overdrive effects. Despite this wealth of power and flexibility, its UI will be smaller than many simple, two-oscillator synth plugins for maximum space efficiency.

NitrousPM, NitrousPD and NitrousNEO will be freeware but TriNitrous will only be available to those who purchase NOVAkILL's current album, "I HATE GOD", on CD [albumware]. They are / will be available for Windows as VST instrument plug-ins.

NitrousPM

NitrousPM is a two oscillator virtual-analogue synth with high quality oscillators and a wealth of modulation sources. Its super-compact UI is designed to maximise workflow without making it too hard to work with, thanks to large, well-spaced knobs and obvious, simple to use minor controls.

Its main features are:

  • Two high quality SyncFX oscillators from Chris Kerry with 11 waveforms and Phase Modulation.
  • Unison, optimised for "massive, phatty goodness".
  • State-Variable filter with Low Pass 12 and 24dB/octave and 12dB/octave High Pass, band Pass and Band Reject modes.
  • Two ADSR envelopes, both with multiple interpolation modes [slope] with looping on the modulation envelope only.
  • Tempo-synced LFO with 5 modulation destinations [3 available simultaneously].
  • VCA with Mono/Poly modes and Portamento [mono mode only].
  • Extensive routing for velocity modulation and Mod Wheel control.
  • 16-step programmable Gate Modulation source, assignable to phase mod, filter cutoff and volume [trance-gate].
  • New RARP uses the Gate sequence to create random note variations over a user-definable range [0 to 2 octaves].
  • Overdrive effect.
  • MIDI "Learn" eliminates the need for MIDI CC assignments.

NitrousPD

NitrousPD is a Phase Distortion synth with a full subtractive [virtual-analogue] signal path and a wealth of modulation options. Its super-compact UI is designed to maximise workflow without making it too hard to work with, thanks to large, well-spaced knobs and obvious, simple to use minor controls.

Its main features are:

  • SynthEdit's standard Phase Distortion Oscillator with two wave generators, each offering 7 different waveforms.
  • Randomator modulation source for more natural sounding patches.
