Riot Audio releases "Ghoul" - Ghostly Textures for Kontakt
Riot Audio has released Ghoul, a new two-layer Kontakt sample library for contemporary horror score-inspired ghostly textures. They say:
A cinematic instrument inspired by contemporary horror film scores for Native Instruments' Kontakt, it is based on long, evolving performances of aleatoric violins and vocals, and contains 40 carefully crafted long, medium and short ghostly textures.
Its sonic palette reaches from spooky otherworldly textures featuring growls, whispers, to violin flutters, scrapes and taps, as well as an assorted selection of other atonal sounds.
Ghoul is based on a simple two-layer engine, allowing for the fast creation new previously unheard gothic pads and textures with a few mouse clicks.

- Custom sound design engine using state of the art Kontakt 6 capabilities.
- Two layers of sound: The Nether (A), The Yonder (B).
- Source sounds: 8 aleatoric violin sounds (scrapes, body/string taps, detuned cluster, irregular tremolo/col legno, tickles), 3 vocalisations (growl, whisper, moan) and two vocal like sounds derived from a large frame drum.
- 156 possible sonic combinations.
- 40 presets (snapshots) in total – 20 longs, 10 medium, 10 shorts.
