Toneworks updates Catalyst VST/AU Sequencer Plugin to v1.1

-

After gaining strong support for the initial release of Catalyst three months ago, Toneworks has issued a v1.1 update based on early user feedback.

The v1.1 release fixes a few bugs and adds a number of new features:

  • Additional scales: Melodic minor, harmonic minor, melodic major, and harmonic major scales have been added.

  • MIDI FX version: AU MIDIFX plugin for Mac (parameters and synth plugin sections are disabled).

  • Improved pitch randomisation: The algorithm used to generate random pitches has been redesigned and now produces much more musical results.

  • Shift select steps: Hold down the shift key to select multiple groups of steps. Shift click single steps to select or deselect. This feature can be used to randomize only certain steps in a pattern (i.e. as an alternative to step locks).

  • Shift pattern left/right: Shift steps in the pattern (or the current selection) left or right.

  • Cancel slider drag: Pressing escape while dragging a slider (while the mouse button is still down) cancels the edit.

  • Recall plugin paths: Plugin scanner recalls previous plugin paths.

  • Support for PACE anti piracy: Host plugins that use PACE anti piracy (e.g. Ujam Usynth). Note that no changes has been made to Catalyst licensing system itself - this feature only concerns hosted plugins.

  • Mac Silicon installer: Installer no longer requires Rosetta 2 on Mac Silicon computers. As before, the Catalyst mac build will run on both Intel and Silicon mac computers.

  • More tips and tricks: Several new tips and tricks have been added to the manual.

In addition, a few shortcomings in the original version has been addressed:

  • More reliable saving and reloading: The state management of Catalyst has be rewritten from the ground up to make absolutely sure it works reliably across all hosts and platforms.
  • Tempo changes and looping: Catalyst now handles tempo changes and looping correctly in all DAWs.
