Toontrack has released The Eighties EBX, an all-new expansion for EZbass focused on capturing that quintessential '80s-style bass sound. This release marks the eleventh title in the company's quickly growing family of EBX expansions for EZbass. Here's what they say:

Much like the decade itself, The Eighties EBX is a merge of electric and electronic. It comes with two individual instruments, one high-end electric bass guitar as well as one classic analog synthesizer, each handpicked for their individual qualities and overall influence on the music of the time.

In addition to the instruments themselves, The Eighties EBX also includes a wealth of presets for a wide range of tones as well as a custom library of MIDI, allowing you to start writing and producing from the get-go.

If you're looking for the ultimate palette of '80s-like bass tones designed to work in anything from pop and rock to all-electronic new wave or synth pop, this is it. Welcome to your new go-to EZbass expansion.

Feature Spotlight:

  • Two instruments: one high-end electric bass guitar and one synth bass based on an iconic analog synthesizer.
  • Inspired by the sound and music of the '80s.
  • Ideal for anything from vintage to modern-sounding pop, rock and electronic productions.
  • Electric bass sampled with finger and pick options.
  • Synth bass features up to three user-controllable oscillators for each preset.
  • Both instruments offer a range from A0 to E4.
  • Includes a wealth of presets for a wide range of '80s-inspired tones.
  • Includes a collection of MIDI tailored for each instrument.

Main Changes in EZbass v1.1.5 (Read the full release notes):

  • General:
    • Added support for keyboard basses.
    • A splash screen is shown at startup of the standalone (to earlier show that something is happening). In a DAW, the same image is shown in the plug-in window the first time it is opened in a session (only for as long as the normal interface is being prepared to be shown, so this does not add any time but the window appears sooner).
  • Song Track:
    • "Add Groove" has been renamed to "Add Standard Groove.".
  • Grooves Tab:
    • Active modifiers no longer have their own row. All modifiers and filters now share the same "active filter" row and the clear button clears everything.
  • Settings:
    • On Windows, there is now a setting to invert the horizontal scroll direction when shift+wheel is used.
    • "Restore MIDI Database" will now preserve user-added MIDI libraries and favorites (in libraries that are still available).

Price: $89.
