U&I Software releases MetaSynth 5.4 and Xx 5.4 for OS X - adds Mavericks compatibility

U&I Software has announced the release of versions 5.4 of MetaSynth and Xx Algorithmic Composition Software for OS X. Both updates add full OS X Mavericks compatibility and Xx 5.4 also includes numerous bug fixes.

MetaSynth is not a synthesizer. It is a full-fledged electronic music and sound design laboratory. Each of its six rooms, provide a unique take on music and sound sculpting.

Xx is an algorithmic composition tool for Mac OS X from Eric Wenger, creator of Bryce 3D, MetaSynth, ArtMatic, ArtMatic Voyager. It can be used as a self-contained music creation environment or as a companion to MetaSynth or any MIDI-capable sequencer/digital audio workstation. It is aimed at both novice and advanced music makers and provides MIDI-to-MetaSynth translation.

Pricing & Availability

MetaSynth is available for $299, a 50% discount, until May 1, 2014. The suggested retail price is $599. Educational pricing is available. MetaSynth 5.4 is a free update to users of MetaSynth 5. It is a $99 upgrade for users of MetaSynth 4 and earlier.

Xx is also available for a special $49 reintroduction price until May 1, 2014. Xx has a list price is $99. Users of Xx 5 are entitled to a free upgrade.

Requirements

MetaSynth 5.4 requires OS X.5 or later and a Intel-based Mac. MetaSynth 5.31 is available for PowerPC-based Macs. A full-featured save-disabled demo version of the application is available here.

Xx 5.4 requires Mac OS X.5 or later. Version 5.4 requires an Intel processor. Version 5.31 is still available for PowerPC users. A free downloadable demo version is available here.
