dime

the smart parallel processing rack

dime is a plugin that can split the incoming audio by frequency bands, stereo channels, mid/side, or transient and tonal parts, and runs them through two plugin chains in parallel, which can contain any VST3 or AudioUnit effect available on your system.

its goal is to enable complex and creative parallel processing chains without the fuss of setting up aux/send buses in your daw, figuring out how to isolate the parts of your sound to target, and finally mixing them back together transparently.

dime ultimately gives you endless creative avenues with an unrivalled level of control over your sound, in a simple yet powerful workflow.

features

  • split modes: 6 split modes allow you to split your incoming signal by frequency bands, left/right stereo channels, mid/side, or the powerful transient/tonal mode.
  • build your own effect chains: dime can host VST3 or AudioUnit plugins (regardless of whether you run it in VST3 or AudioUnit), and lets you chain up to 4 plugins in a chain to process each split signal path. it also embeds the UIs of each plugin inside its own, and passes through a sidechain audio to all the hosted plugins that support sidechain input.
  • automatic gain compensation: preserve your gain staging accuracy and keep the hosted plugins in check by automatically correcting any gain introduced throughout the plugin chains. this also helps compensate for psycho-acoustic bias of loudness introduced by some types of processing and plugins.
  • oversampling: enable 4x oversampling to help reduce aliasing. this is very useful for those plugins that add distortion but don't have oversampling natively.
  • latency compensation: it goes without saying, dime handles the differences in latencies of the different plugin chains and compensates for them before joining the paths to provide a coherent, clean output.
  • solo: monitor each split signal in isolation. very useful for fine-tuning and hearing what dime and its hosted plugins are doing to your input audio.
  • balance and dry/wet: tweak the balance of your signal between the two split signals, and dial-in the overall effect of dime as needed through a global mix knob.
  • undo/redo and parameter banks for auditioning
  • tooltips: built-in explanations of each parameter as you use dime.
  • (coming soon) dark mode
  • (coming soon) spectral and waveform visualizations
