I remember finding Davidson A&M just months after the website first appeared and thought that these programs must be too good to be true after seeing the prices. I will say that I was mistaken. I tried out the demo and purchased it within a day.

EVI is technically the term for an "Electric Valve Instrument" but it works great with my EWI usb and will likely perform well with any wind controller, although I only have the one to test I've seen videos with others using different controllers. The synth is very responsive and feels natural to play, and the price can't be beat.

The EVI label gives a clue as to where this instrument excels sonically, it is modeled after an original "brass synth" and that is with brass style sounds, but it is not limited there at all. There are presets for more woodwind, and straight synth sounds as well. The interface allows plenty of room for tweaking presets as well as sound design from the ground up.

My only criticism is that I wish I found the breath control aspects a little more intuitive. I'm still learning some sound design (seemingly an important part of being an ewi musician) and I know there are subtle nuances available that I just can't wrap my head around. But the presets are solid and very usable and tweakable so it doesn't bother me too much.

Finally I'd like to mention the price tag. It's so affordable it was an absolute no brainer. My budget is non-existent but even I could afford the fifteen dollars to have a very expressive wind synth that is so enjoyable to play.

Overall I highly recommend this to anyone looking for some great electric brass and synth sounds for their wind controller.
