24-bit audio doesn't always end up as 24-bits. CDs use 16-bits, or material might be archived at a lower bit depth to accommodate a particular medium (like 20-bit digital audio tape), or to save space with non-critical media. However, reducing bit depth inherently leads to reduced quality.
To retain sound quality, IDR360° Bit Requantizer uses Waves' Increased Digital Resolution (IDR) process for minimal loss of audio information when re-quantizing from higher to lower bit depths.
